Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has called for the reinforcement of regional connectivity highlighting that the Colombo Port City – Special Economic Zone – in Sri Lanka would help build this process in South Asia with its competitive investment opportunities in international trade, offshore banking and financial services, shipping and logistics operations, information technology and business process outsourcing, and other ancillary services”.  Joining  the  International Conference Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on virtual platform, Minister Gunawardena said the center of gravity of the world economy has pivoted towards Asia and that South Asia has become one of the fastest growing regions in the world.  With its strategic location in the Indian Ocean, the island of Sri Lanka is emerging as a major financial, shipping, aviation and financial hub.
