Consular Services for residents of Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia & Lithuania
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Stockholm provides Consular Services for Sri Lankans resident in Sweden, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania & Norway.
You are able to obtain the consular services from the Embassy from the following two methods:
1 By visiting us in person with prior appointment
2 By sending your application to us by post (Except for those who reside within the limits of Stockholm district)
Please read the following instructions carefully before you submit your application using one of the above two methods:
Submission of your application at our counter:
For visiting the Embassy for consular services, applicants are required to obtain a pre-scheduled appointment – appointments can be obtained only through the Embassy website. Appointments cannot be obtained over the phone or by email. The staff will not be able to accommodate you, if you walk-in without an appointment as the other applicants who have prior appointments do not permit us to entertain walk-in applicants during their pre-booked time slots.
Sending your application by post:
If you are not residing within the Stockholm district limits you can submit your application by post (except for affidavits/power of attorneys/dual citizenship applications). For affidavits/power of attorneys/dual citizenship applications you should visit the Embassy in-person after obtaining an appointment.
Where applicable, prior to posting your application please ensure your supporting documents are certified with an official stamp by an authorized notary public or by a Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka (Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Sweden (Gothenburg) & Norway (Bergen & Kristiansand).
Please note that due to the heavy volume of calls it will not be possible for the staff to provide all the information over the phone. Therefore, before visiting the Embassy or posting your application, please read all information / instructions /guidelines given in the official website of the Embassy carefully, to prepare your application. Please also go through the checklist relevant to your application to ensure that you bring all required documents, certified copies, photocopies / print-outs with you.
To ensure fast and efficient service to you please attend your appointment on time.
For all applicants submitting applications by post a postage fee is applicable to return the original documents. A postage fee will be also applicable when documents issued by the Embassy (Birth Certificate, Citizenship Certificate, New/Amended Passports eg.) are dispatched using PostNordRekommenderatBrev (Register Post) service.
- Postage fee for Sweden : SEK 280 (SEK 140 + SEK 140)
- Postage fee out of Sweden : SEK 360 ( SEK 180 + SEK 180)
- Photocopies taken by the Embassy in case of non-submission of copies of original documents) – SEK 50
- Bank fee (cross border transfer) – SEK 50
Please note that the Embassy does not accept payments made by cheques. If paid by the Debit/Credit Cards (Only VISA and Master cards) at the Embassy, bank commission of 1.5% will be added to the payment.
Please refrain from making any payments to the Embassy for your application/s until you receive an email communication from the Consular Division of the Embassy requesting payment, as applications with deficient documents will not be accepted for payment.
To ensure the smooth processing of the application, we kindly request you to fulfill deficiencies in the application within 30 days from the date of submission. Failure to do so may lead to the rejection of the application.
