The train trip from Ella to Kandy in Sri Lanka, or the other way around, is considered to be one of the most beautiful train trips in the world. This train ride is seven hours long and takes you through stunning landscapes of green and lush tea plantations and mountain views.

The Nine Arch Bridge in Ella was built when Sri Lanka was under the British rule. The British relocated the steel which was to be used to complete the construction of the bridge. But, this didn’t break the spirit of the talented craftsmen of Ella and they still managed to build this magnificent bridge using stone bricks and cement. The bridge can be reached by a taxi ride from Ella. Don’t miss the quiet sunrise at the bridge. There are very few tourists here in the morning so you’ll have uninterrupted views of the blissful sunrise and panoramic views.

If you love living green, then Ella is obviously a place to visit. Ella Rock is one of the places which prove it. Trekkers will love the place. The panoramic views it provides with mist and cloud covering the area, especially in the early mornings and the late evenings are something you should witness and that would suffice enough to say that you visited Ella.T otal time for climbing up and down is 4 hours. You are starting form Ella train station, you would enjoy the rail walk, and as soon as you started climbing up, you will be passing a waterfall, the rubber tree forest and tea plantations. On a rainy day, it can be slippery, so better be cautious with what you wear for the journey. Wear something suitable for a hiking and towards the end of the hike, route will get bit harder with the steep but it is still manageable.

“Punchi Sri Pada” is another name for this peak (Little Adams Peak). It is 1141 m in height and attracts many travelers who come to Sri Lanka. You will walk through lush green tea plantations, waterfalls and paddy fields while enjoying the sceneries on the way to the top.You will be able to see the people who are plucking and collecting tea leaves, working in their estates. It will take around 35-45 min to reach to the top of the mountain on a zig-zag path. Thus it is an ideal place to watch the sunrise in the morning.

On a tea plantation visit you can learn all about the tea picking, processing, and making process, and also enjoy fine Sri Lankan tea tasting.  It’s probably a much more exciting prospect if you’re a tea lover, but even if you’re not, the Hill Country (or Tea Country, as it’s sometimes called) is arguably the most scenic part of the island. You’ll find rolling hills clad with row upon row of luscious, green tea plants.
